Windsurfing Boom Break Wipeout, Hatteras, North Carolina, Chinook Pro 1 Alloy

I was having a great day windsurfing at Hatteras, North Carolina when my Chinook Pro 1 Alloy boom arm broke at the boom head. The boom was 165 – 227 cm length and I was sailing an Ezzy Lion 7.5 sail. The boom was about 4 years old with not a lot of use.

I walked about 1/2 mile back to shore which took around an hour. The water level was below my neck to waist high on the walk back to shore. Glad that boom did not break while I was windsurfing on Lake Superior:)

that is pretty common, and the sharp edges will destroy the sail. Check out “FiberSnap” on my channel for a fiberspar doing the same.
